Dr Bike Session Bike Week!
On Wednesday 12th June we had our first Dr Bike Session of the Summer. It's a shame that it didn't really feel like summer, it poured down with rain! This didn't dampen anyones spirits, with a number of people showing up from all over the Island, including Northwood and various locations along the Red Squirrel trail.
Workplaces even made an appearance, such as the NHS, the College and the Isle of Wight Council.
When Lee arrived with his bike (pictured above), it was covered in cobwebs and it looked as though it had seen better days!
Lee from the Isle of Wight Council visits the Crematorium on a daily basis, after Wednesday's session he vowed to cycle to and from the Crematorium instead of using a vehicle. What a way to get active, avoid congestion and cut down on your journey time!
The smoothie bike also proved to be popular, with a variety of people trying out a variety of different smoothie recipes, with bananas, strawberries, raspberries, accompanied with apple and orange juice.
It was also a great opportunity for me to talk to members of the public and various workplaces about the Connect2Work programme and general sustainable transport on the Island. The feedback was very useful.
